What is counselling?

Counselling can often be referred to as a talking therapy. There are many different types of counselling. It is essentially a safe place for people to talk about any problems, or feelings they might be finding difficult. It is an opportunity to talk things through in a non judgemental environment. Counsellors don't tell you what to do, and aren't able to give you advice or answers. However they can enable you to gain an understanding of your situation, or feelings. People usually come to counselling when they wish to change something about their lives. Often by talking things through people are able to develop an emotional tool kit, or find solutions which helps empower them to move forward with their lives. Whether you are an adult, or child starting therapy can be beneficial if you are ready to make changes in your life.

WHAT CONDITIONS CAN IT HELP?

Counselling can support people who are experiencing the following issues: Anxiety, Depression, Self Esteem, Bereavement, Self Harm, Bullying, Relationships, and Change.

WHAT BENEFITS MIGHT BE EXPERIENCED?

Therapy can lead to raised self esteem, increased confidence, learning to say no and set boundaries, developing relationships, reduction of stress/anxiety, feeling a sense of empowerment and self worth, talking to someone who does not judge you.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
